Recommendation to close Catholic school dropped
Plain Dealer, Feb 4, 1976
A recommendation that St. Margaret of Hungary School, 2891 E. 116th St., be closed was withdrawn last night at the Board of Catholic Education meeting.
The recommendation to close the school had come from the Rev. John K. McNally, chairman of the boards's (sic) elementary education committee. Father McNally said the school could anticipate no more than 56 pupils for classes next fall.
But a group of parishioners asked that the closing be postponed so that members of the parish would have more time to adjust to the change. The group requested meetings with the four secretaries of Bishop James A. Hickey. Father McNally then withdrew his recommendation.
